‘So Pretend’- Buckley Ward

It suddenly turned into autumn here over the weekend, which I both love and find disappointing. I love the slow descent of the temperatures during September but it appears that won’t happen, just like the slow ascent of those temps didn’t happen in May. It’s alright though, as a song like ‘So Pretend’ by Buckley Ward sounds better when you’re buried under just a little chilly anyways.

Buckley Ward is a 5 piece band from Melbourne, Australia and ‘So Pretend’ is the lush, dreamy first single from their forthcoming album. There are all sorts of elements of summer that find their way into this song in a seemingly nostalgic way, like those drums that seem a little tropical or that guitar line that dances just a little bit, but make no mistake about it, this is a song for the upcoming season. The layers of sound, the talk of blankets and the overwhelming dreamy feeling all remind me of those weekend mornings in the fall when we accidentally slept with the windows and don’t want to get out of bed and leave the warm embrace of the blankets.

Buckley Ward are offering up an mp3 of ‘So Pretend’ for the price of an email over at their site, which is a pretty great price. So head over there and do it, and make sure to keep an eye out for their forthcoming full length. Oh, and stay warm. Enjoy.
