catching up

There’s a lot of good stuff that’s been posted lately that I haven’t shared (either as its own post or as part of Monday Links). So let’s catch up, shall we?

‘Forgiveness’ (Patty Griffin cover)- The Local Strangers
One of my most favorite covers finally saw proper release recently as my friends The Local Strangers put out a terrific covers EP called Borrowed Songs. Five fantastic takes on songs they didn’t write, but this one…. mannnnn this one.

‘Marigolden’- Field Report
This is the altogether gorgeous title track from Field Report’s forthcoming album. I’ve said it a few times, but Marigolden is one of the finest albums of 2014. You will love it.

‘I Don’t Want To Change You’- Damien Rice
I still kinda can’t believe Damien Rice is releasing a new album… but goddamn am I excited to feel a whole bunch of things.

‘Runners In The Night’- The Rural Alberta Advantage
Another band it’s great to have a new album from: The Rural Alberta Advantage. Stream the whole thing right here.

‘These Days’ (Jackson Browne cover)- David McMillin
This is one of my all-time favorite songs, and this version right here is a killer. That harmonica in the middle? It’s not fair. (Download it for free, cause David’s a nice guy, by hitting the arrow on the embedded player.)

‘Blood I Bled’- The Staves
Yeah, so this tune is some kind of beautiful.

‘Flowering’- Tweedy
Nothing not to love about this bouncy, jangly song from a dad and his son.
