Monday Links

On Twitter and Facebook I share links each day to various stuff that I think is great and/or worth people’s time. But not everyone that comes here is on Twitter or Facebook, so I gather up the best of those links each Monday and post them here so everyone can get in on the fun. If you’ve missed any of the past Monday Links (or just want to waste some time), check the archive of posts here.

Edit: You should really be streaming Leif Vollebekk’s superb album North Americana, which comes out tomorrow here in the US.

Nice way to start the week: Roo & The Howl covering Jim James’ ‘A New Life.’

Really fantastic look by NPR at the people behind La Blogotheque and those Take Away Shows we all love (like the one from San Fermin below).

Here’s the thing about the latest Fuel/Friends Chapel Session featuring Desirae Garcia: it’s perfect. Here, watch her play ‘Honest Song’ and then go download the whole thing.

A few bits of self-promotion type stuff. First, I had a ton of fun writing about the first album I ever owned for my friend Agatha over at Brand New Kind Of. And second, I started a Soundcloud account/thing where I’ll be putting together ongoing playlists each month of what I’m listening to (sort of like what I do on Spotify, but now everyone can listen instead of just those who use/can use that service).

This video of Night Beds playing ‘Lost Springs’ as part of their SerialBox Presents session is absolutely lovely.

The most fascinating thing I read all week.

Nothing to do with music, but this video is hilarious and also all too spot on.

Brand new song from JBM show on Super 8. Real nice.

Tyler Lyle wrote a quick song about snow in New York. You know, no big deal. Enjoy.
