‘”Let’s Play” / Statue of a Man’ / ‘Golden Wake’- Mutual Benefit

I wish I had a better story than ‘I saw people yammering on and on about a positive Pitchfork review of it on Twitter’ for how I came upon Love’s Crushing Diamond, the absolutely tremendous new album from Mutual Benefit, but I don’t. And that’s fine- we all have to have some sort of story for how we found an album we love, some are just more… whatever… than others.

Love’s Crushing Diamond is a set of 7 incredibly gorgeous songs about love, relationships, life and growing up and is easily one of the finest records I’ve heard this year, full of sounds, melodies and words fit for losing yourself in as the days get shorter. It’s best as a full record, but below are my two favorite tracks, ‘”Let’s Play” / Statue of a Man’ and ‘Golden Wake.’ Prepare to fall in love, guys and girls (and then go buy it right here). Enjoy.
