‘Hopeful’- Josh Ritter

No one puts on a more joyful show than Josh Ritter, a fact I was reminded of once again last night. He and the Royal City Band played, as they always do, with the kind of powerful joy that turned the sad, beautiful songs that make up Ritter’s latest album into hopeful, healing tunes, turned old favorites into crowd-wide throw-your-head-back-and-sing-at-the-top-of-your-lungs sing-alongs, and, in the end, left only smiles everywhere I turned once the house lights came back on. It was, as it’s been each time I’ve seen him, a special show.

The highlight of the show for me was ‘Hopeful,’ my favorite song from the brilliant album Ritter released in March of this year, The Beast In Its Tracks. Take a listen to it below and then be sure to go grab that album- it is one of the finest released so far this year. Enjoy.
