‘Hard Times Come Again No More’ (Stephen Foster cover)- Iron & Wine

Listen, I know: I’ve labeled this as a cover, which it technically isn’t. Rather, Iron & Wine’s take on ‘Hard Times Come Again No More’ is probably best thought of as an interpretation of the song that Stephen Foster penned in 1854. Semantics aside, this is gorgeous and sounds right at home as spring begins to take hold outside. We’ve made it through the winter and all those hard times, kids.  Enjoy.

Very, very beautiful. It’s got a little bit of Christmas going on, I think, but it’s also a perfect song to listen to in the early spring sunshine. 🙂

Agreed its a beautiful song, but I don’t get Christmas. I don’t get spring. This is a social protest song. The poor are dying while the rich are safe and warm. Theres a pale drooping maiden,
    who toils her life away….
