On Twitter (and Facebook) I share links each day to various stuff that I think is great and/or worth people’s time. But not everyone that comes here is on Twitter or Facebook, so I gather up the best of those links each Monday and post them here so everyone can get in on the fun. If you’ve missed any of the past Monday links (or just want to waste some time), check the archive of posts here.
NPR has lots of free music (100 mp3s, to be exact) of acts that will likely be talked about a great deal over the next week or so. You should go download it all whether you’re going or not.
NPR broadcasted Josh Ritter’s record release show in NYC last Monday, and now they’ve archived it for you to watch over and over right here. It’s a pretty great reminder that Josh Ritter is about as good as it gets live and that his new record is some kind of tremendous (about which my friend Aggie over at Brand New Kind Of wrote the absolute best review anyone will pen, hands down).
Funny or Die posted a pretty great/hilarious/ridiculous video of ‘lost’ audition tapes for The Postal Service. You should watch it.
This site makes a pretty compelling argument that subs > babies. Also, now I’m hungry.
Best read of the week: Andy over at Tympanogram’s piece ‘The Value of Good Writing‘ (which also contains a spot-on critique of blog Kickstarters).
The last video from Night Beds’ Classroom Session for LHS Room 125 (for ‘TENN’) might be the best one the young folks have ever produced. Haven’t been able to get over the last line of the song lately.
‘Human Cannonball’ was featured around here, but this new video is gorgeous and thus must be shared. Also, it is a great song worth hearing many, many times.
Also gorgeous? This video of Hilang Child playing ‘Chaturanga’ in the living room. Whoa.
And finally, this video of Widower playing live at KEXP is the best way you could possibly hope to spend the next 21+ minutes. Enjoy.
