On Twitter (and Facebook) I share links each day to various stuff that I think is great and/or worth people’s time. But not everyone that comes here is on Twitter, so I gather up the best of those links each Monday and post them here so everyone can get in on the fun. If you’ve missed any of the past Monday links (or just want to waste some time), check the archive of posts here.
First order of business this week for everyone: go listen to Josh Ritter’s incredible new album on NPR. Seriously. Stop what you are doing. Go listen. While there you can also stream the new album from Youth Lagoon. UPDATE: You can now stream the new album from Hey Marseilles. You should really do that.
My friend Megan over at Music Vs. Misery posted her latest mix last week. It contains only fantastic tunes so you should go there and download it as quickly as possible.
Nice week last week for favorites around here Night Beds: NPR posted a stunning Tiny Desk Concert and the young folks in LHS Room 125 posted the first (absolutely breathtaking) video (below) from the Classroom Session they had the group in for.
This piece about the art installment that seeks to buy only copies of The White Album was one of the more interesting things I read all week. Very, very cool idea.
Fort Frances has a new EP, Harbour, coming out in May. Take a listen to/download (hit the downward arrow in the player below) the fantastic ‘City By The Sea’ below.
Sandy over at Slowcoustic rolled out part 1 of the J. Tillman covers project he recently curated. Head there and grab the three great covers he posted on Friday and then check back there every day this week for even more.
Sorry I’m (still) not sorry about posting so much Shakey Graves stuff. Got pretty stuck on this little number last week.
A tender new jam from Alabama Shakes right here, kids.
Remember that insane video of Local Natives playing in a French apartment from a few weeks back? Yes? No? Well, now you can watch the whole ridiculous set they played in said location over on La Blogotheque.
Fair warning: the next album I’m not going to be able to shut up about is the one coming from Pickwick on March 12th (you should pre-order that now, really). Here they are playing one of the songs, ‘Halls of Columbia,’ from that new album on KEXP. Enjoy.
