Monday Links

On Twitter (and Facebook, too) I share links each day to various stuff that I think is great and/or worth people’s time. But not everyone that comes here is on Twitter, so I gather up the best of those links each Monday and post them here so everyone can get in on the fun. If you’ve missed any of the past Monday links (or just want to waste some time), check the archive of posts here.

The best way to start your week is with this video of the lovely Caroline Smith playing a new song.

Natalie over at It’s Too Sunny Out Here posted her January mix. You should go there as fast as you can and download it- it’s a good’un.

Vandaveer will be releasing a new album of traditional murder ballads and the like shortly. You should be excited about this. Take a listen to the first single, ‘Pretty Polly.’

This piece from The Atlantic on the appreciation of certain types of music being a learned trait is likely the most interesting thing you’ll read this morning.

I got stuck on this video of Alabama Shakes playing ‘Heavy Chevy’ again last week. I wasn’t upset about that.

Time for non-music related wonderfulness. This site is pointlessly awesome and will immediately improve your day. I want to be best friends with this teen Jeaopardy! contestant, and I want to shake the hand of/slap the hell out of the person responsible for this great/disgusting decades old sports figure candy bar tasting. But THE BEST ridiculous thing of the week is this site.

Indians’ Take Away Show was posted last week. It’s tremendous and I think you’ll really like it.

And finally, this video of Shakey Graves playing ‘Bully’s Lament’ is solid gold, just like everything else the man touches. Enjoy.

  1. I spent over half an hour consuming most of the content on this post when I should have been working. I enjoyed it all, especially the music videos. Thanks!
