On Twitter I share links each day to various stuff that I think is great and/or worth people’s time. But not everyone that comes here is on Twitter, so I gather up the best of those links each Monday and post them here so everyone can get in on the fun. If you’ve missed any of the past Monday links (or just want to waste some time), check the archive of posts here.
This piece on race & indie rock from Martin Douglas at MTV is the best thing I’ve read in a good long time. It’s long but it’s more than worth your time.
The first half of The Lumineer’s Take Away Show with La Blogotheque was posted last week. It’s wonderful. Seriously, just absolutely wonderful. Just watch:
Youth Lagoon’s new album comes out March 5th and last week saw the release of the first single from it, ‘Dropla.’ Take a listen/download by hitting the arrow.
Ivan & Alyosha’s new album comes out February 26th. You should be excited about it. And if you aren’t already, this video of them playing a stripped down version of ‘Be Your Man’ should help you get to that point.
It only took about two months, but the ‘What I’m Listening To‘ playlist on Spotify has been updated. Take a listen if you’d like. Oh, and in other me-related news, I now have a collections page on Bandcamp– you should get one too. It’s a pretty awesome idea and a great way to discover new, fantastic music.
I’ve recently been listening a lot to this version of ‘Two Hearts’ that Keegan DeWitt played for Sleepover Shows a few years back. Thought I’d share it again. It’s absolutely fantastic (and gutting).
If you’re anything like me you love two things besides music: baseball and beer. Fangraphs combines both of those other loves and IT. IS. AWESOME.
Below is video of Matt and Sam from Hey Marseilles, Noah Gundersen, Le Wrens and Courtney Marie Andrews playing a cover of New Order’s ‘Love Vigilantes’ recently in Seattle. It is full of goodness.
….and then there’s this video of The Lumineers, Shovels and Rope and Paper Bird covering CCR’s ‘Long As I Can See The Light’ on New Year’s Eve. It is completely ridiculous. Enjoy.
