Monday Links

On Twitter I share links each day to various stuff that I think is great and/or worth people’s time. But not everyone that comes here is on Twitter, so I gather up the best of those links each Monday and post them here so everyone can get in on the fun. If you’ve missed any of the past Monday links (or just want to waste some time), check the archive of posts here.

Pitchfork is streaming the incredibly enjoyable new album from Foxygen. Your Monday would improve greatly by giving it a spin or 5.

The Guardian posted an extremely interesting article last week on how record labels are learning to use YouTube to generate profits. It’s worth a read if you like to see how the nuts and bolts of the industry work.

Donovan Woods’ new album, Don’t Get Too Grand, now has a release date: March 5th. As the video below of him playing ‘Petrolia’ from said album shows, we should all be very excited.

Local Natives have an album coming out in a few weeks and stopped by KCRW to play a set featuring a whole lot of the material that will be on it. NPR has the video for you to watch right here. You should do that. It’s fantastic.

Sharon Van Etten stopped by Australia’s Triple J a little while back and covered Nick Cave’s ‘People Ain’t No Good.’ ‘Tremendous’ is the word one would use to describe it. Take a look/listen (the song starts around 1:19).

This video of The Gundersen Family gathered ’round the microphone singing ‘The Flood’ is beyond lovely. Enjoy.
