Monday Links

On Twitter I share links each day to various stuff that I think is great and/or worth people’s time. But not everyone that comes here is on Twitter, so I gather up the best of those links each Monday and post them here so everyone can get in on the fun. If you’ve missed any of the past Monday links (or just want to waste some time), check the archive of posts here. Enjoy.

A little late on this, but you can (and should) stream the debut album from The Staves right now on The Guardian’s site.. And then buy it tomorrow. It’s so, so lovely.

Evening Hymns are giving away a 4-track ‘Live In Munich’ collection. It’s fantastic. Go get it here.

Damien Jurado stopped by Sleepover Shows and played a few solo versions of a few songs from the wonderful record he released earlier this year. Check out ‘So On, Nevada’ below and then head on over and check out the two other videos from the set here.

It may not be election season here any longer (thank God), but this video of Ben Sollee playing ‘A Few Honest Words’ at the Lincoln Memorial is still wonderful and pertinent.

The Avett Brothers covering ‘In The Aeroplane Over The Sea.’ Yeah, that’s nice.

I saw Daughter play an absolutely breathtaking set a few weeks ago here in Chicago and have had ‘Youth’ stuck in my head ever since, so I’m going to just share this video (potentially again, not sure if I have before) because you need to know and love Daughter.

Jon from The Head and The Heart played a solo set awhile back in which he debuted a bunch of new stuff, including a new one called ‘Texas Swing.’ Give it a watch/listen, false starts and all.

La Blogotheque shot a Take Away Show with Alabama Shakes on the streets of Paris back in February. Check out the video for ‘Makin’ Me Itch’ below and then go over to La Blogotheque to see the other two videos they shot.

Remember the hook on Mackelmore & Ryan Lewis’ ‘Same Love’? Well Mary Lambert (the woman who sings it) went ahead and turned it into a full song. It’s tremendous. Enjoy.
