Monday Links

On Twitter I share links each day to various stuff that I think is great and/or worth people’s time. But not everyone that comes here is on Twitter, so I gather up the best of those links each Monday and post them here so everyone can get in on the fun. If you’ve missed any of the past Monday links (or just want to waste some time), check the archive of posts here. Enjoy.

A little late on posting this, but you can get an early listen to Joshua James’ superb new album that comes out tomorrow, From the Top Of Willamette Mountain, over on MTV Hive.

My friend Natalie over at It’s Too Sunny Out Here just posted her September mix. Sure, it’s a few months late but it’s exceptional so it’s fine. Go grab it.

The Wooden Sky stopped by and recorded a Halfway House Session awhile back and, as you can see in the below video for ‘Take Me Out,’ the session turned out great. Grab all three tracks from the session for free here.

Sound on the Sound posted their final Doe Bay Session from this year’s festival last week featuring Radiation City. It’s…wow.

Aunt Martha post a cover of Band of Horses’ ‘No One’s Gonna Love You’ right before the storm hit the east coast last week. It’s lovely.

Want to hear three new demos from Tyler Lyle? Yeah, you probably do. Hear those new sounds here, here and here.

Seryn is currently starting work on a new album, which makes me very happy. Check out a stellar new tune titled ‘Ivory Black’ in the below video (the first song is ‘Of Ded Moroz’ and then ‘Ivory Black’ starts about the 2:14 mark).

Mangled words and EXTREMELY obvious drug consumption aside, I dig this cover of ‘Hold On’ that Angus Stone and his band laid down for Triple J (actual tune starts at the 1:22 mark).

Calming Manatee is both the dumbest and most tremendous site I came across last week. I think you’ll agree.

It took a few weeks, but I finally made an update to my ‘What I’m Listening To‘ playlist on Spotify. Take a listen if you’d like.

NPR caught up with Allen Stone at Sasquatch and got him to perform a stripped down version of ‘Sleep’ while the wind tried to push him around. It made for a pretty awesome video, as you can see.

There are few songs that make me as happy as ‘Rio’ by Hey Marseilles This video of the group playing the song for the young folks of LHS Room 125 makes me very, very happy. Enjoy.
