‘Summer Light’- Prairie Empire

The last week or so here has been full of long, dreamy, late Summer days, the kind that require a jacket (and a strong will to get out of bed) in the morning and open windows all day. These are the days I long for, the ones that there can never be enough of, and Prairie Empire’s recently released self-titled album is the perfect soundtrack for them. Brittain Ashford’s warm, unique and comforting voice is a superb compliment to these golden days, effortlessly floating (and harmonizing) over the strums, bells and plucks that populate the lovely songs that make up the album.

I’ve been returning to ‘Summer Light’ to over and over today/lately, though you should really just go get the whole thing on Bandcamp– there’s not a bad track on it. Enjoy.
