On Twitter and Facebook I share links each day to various stuff that I think is great and/or worth people’s time. But not everyone that comes here is on Twitter or Facebook, so I gather up the best of those links each Monday and post them here so everyone can get in on the fun. If you’ve missed any of the past Monday Links (or just want to waste some time), check the archive of posts here.
Let’s start things off on a light note, with this video of Matthew Houck (Phosphorescent) playing ‘Song for Zula.’
Charles Bradley is a bad, bad man. He (with some help from The Bullets) also released a new song last week.
Also releasing a song last week (and also a bad ass)? Reignwolf.
ALSO releasing a tremendous new song last week? The War On Drugs.
The second video from PHOX’s stop in LHS Room 125 posted last week. Much like the first, it’s fantastic.
My friend Faith made a STRONG argument over on Vinyl Me, Please for why going to shows alone is kind of amazing.
Lots of albums already announced to look forward to in the early part of 2014, perhaps none as anticipated for me as the debut full-length from Noah Gundersen. Last week he released two tracks from it (‘Cigarettes’ and ‘Boathouse’) as part of a free sampler over on Noisetrade. It goes without saying you should go over there and get it.
I watched this video of Shakey Graves playing ‘Once In Awhile’ as part of his Pickathon Pumphouse Session about 50 times last week.
Wanna hear Houndmouth cover ‘North East Texas Women’? Thought so.
Best thing I read all week (or will read all holiday season).
Will Johnson playing ‘Glacial Slurs’ in Chicago seems like a good way to end this update. Goodness. Enjoy.
