‘Beach’- Deep Sea Diver

Wasn’t really thinking that a perfect song for this cold, desolate winter day would come form Germany, but hey, that happens. ‘Beach’ by Deep Sea Diver is a hauntingly beautiful, slow building track with an arrangement that reminds me a bit of For Emma-era Bon Iver. The chilly harmonies, the drum and bell combination late in the song, the constant shifting between sparse and lush, loud and soft- they all combine to sound impeccable as I fight back the cold.

Deep Sea Diver released a single featuring ‘Beach’ and another new song, ‘Naked Words,’ in November, which I’m hoping means there’s a new album coming in 2012. Head on over to their Bandcamp page to check out the single (along with their debut EP released in 2010). Enjoy

Thanks, Dainon!

  1. Very nice. Peaceful, reminds a bit of Nick Drake for some reason.
